As an ally, Pat started her advocacy work when she joined the Central Florida chapter of PFLAG, later serving as the chapter’s president for eleven years. Since 2001, she has been a member of Orlando Anti-Discrimination Organization (OADO) where she was responsible for the inclusion of gender identity/expression. Pat has been very involved with Equality Florida including eight years as an Equality Florida board member, serving on the Orlando steering committee and now serving on EQFL’s Council of Leaders. In 2015 she was recognized with EQFL’s Voice for Equality Award. She now enjoys working with youth as a board member and volunteer for the Orlando Youth Alliance
She was also instrumental in ensuring that her former employer, Symantec, added “gender identity or expression” to the company’s diversity policy, and worked for many years as leader of the company’s diversity organization, SymPride.
Pat is passionate about increasing awareness and understanding of LGBT individuals, especially youth and transgender individuals.
