Dixon Mella is an award-winning filmmaker, actor, writer, author and producer. He was awarded the Best Documentary Video award by Jones Intercable dealing with the horrors of South African apartheid. He has been a staple in the Tampa Bay area theater scene in productions with such notable companies as Straz Center for the Performing Arts and Stage Works Theater. The latter of which was the first theater company in the southeast to perform Tony award winning playwright Moisés Kaufman’s The Laramie Project. In addition to theater, Dixon has added films to his extensive resume many of which have been showcased at film festivals around the country. He has written three books How to Make Friends With a Celebrity, Broken Heart Survival Guide and Cat Training Techniques: All The Strategies Behind Training Kitty. Dixon is a graduate of Full Sail University with a degree in Cinematography and a member of the Honor Society.
